super cool concepts and a very Marty execution, very fresh bizarre take along the lines of Echochrome

Emrox responds:

Never heard of Echochrome, I will check it out! Thanks for the kind words.
Update: Echochrome looks cool, I wonder if it's still playable anywhere. Hey tell me if this makes any sense: Nintendo is Paul, Sony is John, Microsoft is Ringo. (But who is george???)

Fun ass game, love the way momentum works, trying to beat other people's scores is addicting. Obviously with how low some of the scores are getting it seems there was serious consideration put into the level design, and the groovin song really sets a fun tone while I grind out retrys. Now this is what Christmas is all about!

One thing I'm curious about is it seems collecting goodies takes off from your overall time? I've been doing runs where I nab as much as possible, but it still seems like my raw time is what gets logged in the game / leaderboards

Stepford responds:

Yooo, thanks for kind review!!

The cookies are actually taken off in real time. So as you pick them up, you'll notice that your timer will slow down/freeze for a lil bit a bit as it's sent back a tenth of a second per cookie. If you get hit by a spike or something, you can suddenly see it go up by a metric fuckton as all of the bonus is gone.

We were thinking of having an ending screen that showed your time, the cookie bonus and then your time with the cookie bonus - but the deadline was approaching fast so we opted for this all-in-one solution! 💕

Man, that was a ton of fun. I would love to see an expanded version or another similar game from you. The humor, art style, puzzles, writing, music, it all gels well and feels pretty unique. Modern, yet capturing that classic escape room game feeling. Nice work. The only thing I REALLY wish this game had was a small epilogue of some kind.

CarpetBakery responds:

Hey, thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah I would've loved to give the game a proper ending, but the deadline ended up cutting me off. If I end up making some sort of extended cut, I'll definitely try to add something there.

This is PRETTY damn cool. Awesome work, threw a lil tip in over on itch. Anyone else reading this should too!

nokoi responds:

:O thank you so much! im glad you enjoyed this, i love your work!!

Nice! It actually can be a bit tough, my highscore was 28. Good job on your second game, yet again, simple but fun. A great step forward!

As for music, there's tons of songs in the music section of Newgrounds (audio portal) that are labeled free to use with credit. Some people even make some that loop with the intention of them being grabbed and put in games. Might be worth a shot to search through for your next game!

EricDanneskjold responds:

I'm actually making a few adjustments to the difficulty right now. Thanks for telling me about the music, I'm definitely gonna look into that :)

my absolute fav. Also noticed for the first time ever since playing this back in '09 that this was made in 30 days, like god damn.

TomFulp responds:

I use this a lot to remind myself what can be done in 30 days, although it's probably not healthy; I think the home stretch to release on Madness Day was around 40 hours straight.

Absolutely amazing! Everything about this was amazing, felt great to play, mechanics worked well and were clever, art was great (recognized Strad instantly!) and best of all it was FUN. Hard to believe it was made in 48 hours with all the charm jam packed in, and clever methodical level layouts. The presentation is top notch, even with the comments section being utilized with the sprites mixed in. You guys knocked it out of the park

Jack responds:

Thanks a bunch! It was really great to work with Strad, we all had a lot of fun working on this together.
I should clarify that some of the stuff in-game was added post-jam -- nothing major, the most significant addition was the points system. No new levels, art, or animation assets were created or added, they've all been the same from the start.
Regardless I'm really happy with the amount of stuff we were able to pack into those brief 48 hours, and I'm even more happy to hear that you enjoyed it! Thank you!

not only are all the individual pieces just incredible, but the overall presentation is so slick and polished. It just feels good to scroll around on here, search for medals, and play the puzzle game. Listenin to cool music n admiring NG, this has gotta be one of my new favorite things on the site. And I got to be in it!!! Sweetness!!!

Sevi responds:

This is nice. I get compliments like this all the time when I make stuff and it fucking rules. It didn't give me a thick dick but it has made me a better artist and has made me think more about what I was doing, it just rulz.
The fact that all the people patting you on the back for this are old school-newgrounds types speaks volumes. You can use this thread to pretend it’s all in good fun, because it is fun, it’s AWESOME. It's so good it hurts.
(I hope people get the reference, otherwise I look like such a conceited cunt lol)

For just a one room affair that was pretty badass. Aside from small tweaks there's not much I would change, the core is damn solid. Nice work!

PopStrikers responds:

Thanks for playing, much appreciated!

Interesting stuff, it definitely was a tranquil experience. These are themes I've considered before, but I appreciate how they've been tempered into a soothing experience. I wish there was a bit more too it, but I think the exact amount there is fits the narrative. Nice work

maruki responds:

Thank you for the review, I'm happy to know my writing with those themes worked out nicely.
